Hi, my name is Alex! I am a May 2011 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with degrees in Biology and Political Science. In college I worked part time as a veterinary assistant, held several competitive internships with local non-profits, was the treasurer of the Pre-Veterinary Club from 2008-2011, and led UNC's only animal welfare group, Helping Paws, from 2009-2011.
After graduation I volunteered in Japan with Japan Cat Network. I worked to establish a shelter in Fukushima, led rescue missions, and provided in-field triage and veterinary care for the shelter animals. It was a transformative experience which helped me realize that I want to help non-profit organizations reach their full potential.
